According to the latest Zillow Consumer Housing Trends Report, 4 out of 5 home Sellers make at least one home improvement prior to selling. Here are the top 3:
1. Interior Painting
Freshening up the inside of your home is an amazing way to grab home buyers’ attention. Don’t go for that funky color you’ve always wanted to try; that can turn out to be a major turn off! We suggest going with neutral colors that can make your home look fresh and modern. Some of our favorite go-to paint colors are shown below:
Curb appeal is a must when it comes to selling your home! An exterior picture is usually the first thing home buyer sees when scrolling on their cell phone! If a home does not look appealing, he or she may move on to the next (better looking) listing. You don’t have to redo your whole garden, but pruning the bushes, adding some mulch, and raking up any debris can make a huge difference. If it is in your budget to add some flowers or seasonal decor then do it!
3. Bathroom Improvements or Replace/Repair Flooring
These two upgrades came in at a tie! Both are great options, but you have to weigh out the pro’s and con’s based on what your house needs.
Bathroom improvements don’t have to be extensive. You can do something simple like adding a fresh coat of paint, new hardware, switching out old light bulbs, or replacing that nicked up vanity. You could even kill two birds with one stone if you look for vanity sets that come complete with all its parts. Replacing dingy stained carpet is an incredible way to get potential home buyers to stop and really look at your listing photos. If they see a beautiful new floor that can really influence whether or not they will take the time to actually go see your home in person.
One of our clients had carpet flooring and was pleasantly surprised to find hardwood underneath. She made the quick decision to rip it up and refinish the flooring before her house hit the market and that one change (among a few) made her house so desirable we received multiple offers.
